Recording at the compound
My approach to recording songs for Northryne Wynd and Sector 25 has been to capture spontaneous performances as finished, pre-produced tracks. All string instruments have been recorded through "live rigs" into the amplifier or preamplifier and all signals have passed through tube or transformer equipped outboard gear. To insure the process is consistent I've established dedicated gear chains for each instrument. There are certainly faster and easier approaches but blending old and new technologies has provided the workflow and sound I wanted to achieve.
